Hide & Seek

Why I love Hide and Seek with my Toddlers.

There is nothing I like more than playing hide and seek with my children aged 3 and 18 months.  There are many reasons why I shouldn't but still I love it!

For a start it is always 'my turn' for the 3 year old!  At the moment her preference is to count!  (she retains the right to switch at any time!)  So off she trots into the kitchen to count and leaves me to find a suitable hiding place in the only other room we have downstairs!

We do not have the biggest house in the world, in fact we have 2 rooms downstairs and said 3 year old is in one of them!  So it is either under the table or behind the sofa! (and she knows it!).

Another peril is the speed of counting, 3 year old is very good at counting and also very quick!  She starts off at a very reasonable pace but by the time she gets to 4 she gets bored and then speeds up and is at 10 before I have had time to turn around!  Which usually results in a quick leap to 'safety'!

The next reason is actually by far one of the biggest one yet, my gorgeous, playful and lovable 18 month old son, who is very definitely on his sisters side when it comes to hide and seek!  He takes great delight in pointing out where I am hiding and is rewarded richly by laughter and attention from beloved older sister!

BUT then every so often I win!  I manage to find a hiding place that neither little terror can find me in!  The last time was when I lay perfectly still under the blanket on the sofa!  I could hear them both marching around chanting "where is the mummy?"  And then I give myself away as I cannot contain my giggles!

Both toddlers are then richly rewarded with laughter and attention.  And I remember why I love Hide and Seek with my toddlers!
